James Dobson has come out with a new book, which includes a list of ways to spot if your male child might be gay. But how is a parent supposed to be warned about a potential Fristian? Here are some helpful hints on how to tell if your child is a candidate for the Religious Right.

Your child is unusually enthusiastic about going to church and makes smug pronouncements about the family's beliefs to neighbors, relatives and total strangers.

Your child has no apparent sense of humor, except when a rival gets hurt. Then they point and laugh.

Your child reacts badly to any attempt to disagree with them, and may scream and cry and tell you to "fuck off" at the suggestion they might be wrong about something.

Your child has a tendency to take everything literally. They believe everything they read, unless it contradicts a strongly held opinion. At which point they will go to incredible lengths to rationalize their opinion, up to and including barefaced lying and suppression of contradictory evidence.

Your child demands perfect loyalty, friends who do not toe the line are discarded and labeled "traitors".

Your child seems to enjoy watching violent movies and tv shows, especially the Crucifixion scene in any Jesus movie, and reacts to it the way other people react to really great porn. Your child does not, however, seem to grasp the central point of the story.

Your child seems to fear the Devil and see him or demons in everything.

Your child's favorite books of the Bible are all in the Old Testament and generally involve horrible deaths of "sinners".

Parents of other children have asked you to tell your child to stop proselytizing so aggressively. You have to sit down and explain to your child that it's not nice to march up to other kids and say "you're going to burn in hell, because you're a gay loving Christ Killer".

Your child is obsessed with the End Times, believes they are imminent but doesn't seem to grasp what this could really mean.

Your child thinks it's okay to pray for sickness and death to come to world leaders, or to advocate their assassination.

Your child seems to like money a lot, and won't share his/her things with others.

Your child appears resentful if his/her mother works outside the home.

Your child scores poorly in science classes and sex ed.

Your child is extremely paranoid, with a huge persecution complex.

Your child seems uncomfortable with their own body and reacts with violent disgust or fear to any sexual imagery or nudity (even if it's just a mother nursing a baby in public).

Your child picks on children of the same sex who deviate from common gender norms (makes fun of other little girls who wear "boy colors" or bullies other little boys who like to play "House")

Your child accuses cartoon characters and puppets of being homosexual.
