I wonder if anyone has noticed what the removal of half a million black folks from the electoral base of New Orleans portends for its political future. I bet Karl Rove has. I would not be surprised to see a Republican mayor in the next election, and more Republicans sent to Congress.

Sun, September 11, 2005 - 3:25 PMOh probably. But will it have the reverse effect on surrounding areas...especially where local politics are concerned? Or is the relocated population going to be too spread out to make much of a political impact?
I think the Disneyesque ersatz plantationville rebuild is going to be a very sad but true reality.
